About

Hello, and welcome to my website! I'm Don Olsen, a Brookhaven, NY based musician, and here's a brief overview of what I do:

I am a multi-instrumentalist in the most literal sense. A synth guitar gives me the ability to play both bass and guitar simultaneously, (plus other sounds, such as piano or a synth pad). Electronic foot drums I created bring live drums into the mix; add a harmonica now and then, a vocal harmonizer pedal when needed and you can tell I’m a busy man when I play!

A one man band? I suppose that’s true to an extent, but I hope it doesn’t come off that way….For me, it's a way to arrange on the fly, giving shape and dynamics to the songs as I perform them. Although I don't use any pre-recorded tracks I’ve been told I sound very much like a trio. When playing with another musician, (which I often do), we sound legitimately like a four piece band.

On a personal note, I'm a family man with a wife and two sons (talented sons, I'm proud to say, check out their websites, http://www.dougolsen.com and http://www.dfoaudio.com). I'm a former business owner and my passion has always been playing music; I welcome the opportunity to share this passion whenever I can.
